There have been some small changes to the manufacturing system over the years with new equipment which has resulted in some minor changes in the calories per cup. The formulas have remained the same. Currently, a cup of dog food has approximately 540 calories.

A switch from probiotic to prebiotic was initiated in response to regulations. To use probiotics, the amount of probiotic would have to be reported on the label, and because of shelf life for kibble products it is not possible to guarantee the amount of viable probiotic in the product post manufacturing. With prebiotics this is not a problem.
